Well, for any of you that don't know, I am training for my first half marathon. That's 13.1 miles people! I often think to myself "what have I gotten myself into?!, this is just crazy" But due to my great stubborness and some need to be faithful to my commitments, here I am, just 5 weeks away and right on schedule for training. I am cheap however, and thought I could accomplish this goal, free of charge (with the exception of the payment to enter the race, which I have never really understood- pay to run on the free, open roads?) But, oh the pain, the pain! After any run over six miles my knees would swell and stiffen. And now they snap, crackle, and pop on a regular basis. This week I just couldn't take it any more, and I thought "how much is the goal worth to me? possible chronic knee problems? a lot of money on new running shoes?" My answer was yes. So immediately after my long run, cut in half my terrible knee pain, I headed to Fleet Feet and bought these beauties:

Nike Pegasus. This is the 27th or 28th version of this shoe, so it must be a good one. It even has a cut out for a sensor you stick into your shoe that syncs with your ipod to tell you mileage, pace, calories burned, etc. I ordered it in the mail yesterday.
Anyway, I took them out for a spin or two and it was like running on springs, what relief!
On another note, I did some fall decorating in our apartment:
Two posts in one week, this is a good re-start. Have a great weekend!
